La discografía de la banda británica de heavy metal Saxon consiste en veintidós álbumes de estudio, ocho en en directo, catorce recopilatorios, once álbumes en video, treinta sencillos, veinticuatro videos musicales, dos cajas recopilatorias, tres extended play y un documental llamado Heavy Metal Thunder: The Movie.[1]​

Se fundó en 1976 en Barnsley por el vocalista Biff Byford, los guitarristas Graham Oliver y Paul Quinn, el bajista Steve Dawson y el baterista David Ward. Dos años más tarde Ward fue reemplazado por Pete Gill y modificaron su nombre al actual, por considerarse vulgar para poder conseguir un contrato discográfico. A finales de 1978 firmaron con el sello francés Carrere Records y al año siguiente debutaron con el álbum Saxon.[2]​ Gracias a sus posteriores trabajos Wheels of Steel (1980), Strong Arm of the Law (1980), Denim and Leather (1981) y el álbum en vivo The Eagle Has Landed (1982) se posicionaron como una de las bandas más exitosas de la Nueva ola del heavy metal británico. Esto se vio reflejado en algunos discos de oro y de plata, como también en las listas ya que tres de ellos se ubicaron en los top 10 en el Reino Unido.[3]​ Sin embargo, perdieron dicha popularidad poco a poco desde Power & the Glory de 1983 y Crusader de 1984, principalmente por la falta de apoyo del sello discográfico, que obligó a la banda a terminar su contrato tras el lanzamiento de este último disco de estudio.[2]​

Durante la segunda mitad de los años ochenta y bajo el sello EMI Music publicaron los trabajos Innocence Is No Excuse de 1985, Rock the Nations de 1986 y Destiny de 1988 con los que alcanzaron un poco de popularidad en los Estados Unidos con sonidos más cercanos al hard rock y al glam metal, pero nunca un éxito destacado como sí lo hicieron algunas agrupaciones compatriotas en dicho país,[4]​ pues la máxima posición de un trabajo de los ingleses en este mercado solo alcanzó a entrar en los top 200.[5]​

Ya en la década de los noventa y con un contrato firmado con Virgin Records, volvieron a cosechar gran éxito entre los fanáticos del heavy metal con los discos Solid Ball of Rock (1991), Forever Free (1992) y Dogs of War (1995), gracias a su reputación en las presentaciones en directo.[6]​ Con la llegada del nuevo milenio y con un nuevo contrato con el sello SPV/Steamhammer Records publicaron los álbumes Killing Ground (2001), Lionheart (2004), The Inner Sanctum (2007) e Into the Labyrinth (2009) con los que mantuvieron el éxito de la década anterior gracias a sus presentaciones en vivo esta vez en los mayores festivales de Europa, entre ellos el Wacken Open Air, lugar donde se extrajo material para los trabajos en vivo The Eagle Has Landed Part III, The Saxon Chronicles[7]​ y Heavy Metal Thunder - Live: Eagles Over Wacken.[8]​ En 2011 y con el sello independiente UDR Music pusieron en el mercado el álbum Call to Arms, que alcanzó a entrar en los top 10 de la lista UK Rock Albums Chart.[9]​ Con un éxito similar fueron recibidos en los mercados sus producciones Sacrifice de 2013, Battering Ram de 2015 y Thunderbolt de 2018.

Por otro lado, hasta mediados de 2014 se estimó que sus ventas superaban las 15 millones de copias en todo el mundo.[10]​
