Cuando se disputan dos partidos, la clasificación depende de los resultados globales. En el caso del fútbol, gana aquel equipo que haya ganado ambos partidos o ganado uno y empatado otro o ganado uno y perdido otro por menos diferencia. Si los dos partidos terminan en empate o cada equipo gana un partido, pueden considerarse otros métodos como la clasificación de acuerdo con quién tiene mayor [[diferencia de goles]] o número de goles anotados como visitante. En otros casos, se realiza inmediatamente el desempate por medio de prórroga y/o penales.
