== Trayectoria ==
En 1965 Mark recibió una [[Programa Fulbright|beca Fulbright]] para fotografiar Turquía durante un año. A partir de este trabajo publicó su primer libro ''Passport'' (1974). Mark era conocida por la estrecha relación que establecía con sus temas. <ref name="ohagan-guardian-obit" /> Para su serie ''Ward 81'' (1979), vivió durante seis semanas con las pacientes del pabellón de seguridad para mujeres del Oregon State Hospital, y para ''Falkland Road'' (1981) pasó tres meses entablando amistad con las prostitutas que trabajaban en una calle larga de Bombay.
