Employment of Women and Men Because of their inherently weaker resistanceto certain health dangers, as well as for moralreasons, women are frequently restricted fromsome kinds of work. Among these are occupa-tions which require constant standing, operationof emery or polishing wheels, and employmentin saloons. Some states forbid the employment ofwomen in manufacturing or mercantile establish-ments for a few weeks before and after child-birth. Legal regulations for the exclusion of menfrom dangerous employments apply only to in-dividuals who are found by examination to beunable to withstand the hazards.
