'''''Ride the Lightning''''' es el segundo álbum del grupo de [[thrash metal]] [[Metallica]].
Como ''[[Master of Puppets]]'' y ''[[...And Justice for All]]'', ''Ride the Lightning'' es parcialmente conceptual; las canciones no narran una historia pero tratan el mismo tema, en este caso la muerte. Por ejemplo, "Fade to Black" es sobre el suicidio, "Fight Fire With Fire" es un comentario acerca de la guerra nuclear, "Ride the Lightning" sobre la silla eléctrica, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" trata sobre la muerte en la guerra y está basada en el libro homónimo de [[Ernest Hemingway]]. "Trapped Under Ice" podría ser interpretada como refiriéndose a ahogarse o congelarse y "Creeping Death" detalla la esclavitud de los judíos y las plagas de la [[Biblia]]. Este álbum es considerado uno de los mejores de la banda, junto al Master Of Puppets, que vendría siendo el álbum sucesor al Ride The Lightning.
Sobre este disco, existen 2 versiones. Un cover azul lanzado en [[1985]] y una versión verde lanzada en [[1984]]. Antes del lanzamiento, en [[Francia]] se vendio por equivocación 10.000 copias con la versión en verde. Ahora esta versión es considerada de colección para los fans.
