National Soccer League 1978

La National Soccer League 1978 fue la segunda temporada de la National Soccer League, la liga de fútbol profesional en Australia. Desde 1977, la Federación de Fútbol de Australia (FFA) estuvo al frente de la organización.[1]​

En este certamen, el equipo Newcastle KB United de Newcastle participó por ser promovido de la segunda división.[2]​ El campeón de esta edición fue el West Adelaide, por haber conseguido un total de 36 puntos; el equipo más goleador fue el Eastern Suburbs con 49, mientras que el Western Suburbs se retiró al final de la competición.[2]​

Los cuatro mejores equipos de la liga entraron en una serie de eliminación directa, sin embargo, el vencedor del gran partido final no fue considerado el ganador absoluto de la temporada.[3]​
