Discusión:Región metropolitana de Barcelona

Number of cities and communities in the "Regió Metropolitana de Barcelona" editar

On the website of "El Pacte Industrial de la Regió Metropolitana de Barcelona" [[1]] the following information is given:

  • La región metropolitana de Barcelona ocupa una extensión geográfica de 3.235 kilómetros cuadrados, dividida en 163 municipios y poblada por cerca de 4.300.000 personas.

In the list of "municipios" in this article there are listed 190 cities (19 in the 1st corona, 69 in the 2nd corona, 102 in the 3rd).

Is there anybody who could explain this contradiction? Please give sources for 190 cities! I want to write an article for the german wikipedia. Thank you.

Anonymous collaborator, your suggestion is understood.

It is certain, the article can be deceptive. I defined the metropolitan region on the basis of Entidad Metropolitana del Transporte and its Red Ferroviaria Integrada, but I had excluded zones. I have made some changes so that the relation between Región metropolitana de Barcelona and Entidad Metropolitana del Transporte settles down unequivocally.

If you are interested in these questions I suggest to visit Región metropolitana de Madrid. It is the same concept, the same relation territory/transport.

Although the demographic characteristics (density) of both territories are very different:

Entidad de Transporte población extensión hab/km²
Barcelona Red Ferroviaria Integrada 5.222.991 4.320 1.209
Madrid Consorcio Regional de Transportes 6.380.229 12.482 511

In addition, whereas the scope of Barcelona is intracommunity (4.320 km²), the one to Madrid is intercommunities, including zones of Castilla La Mancha and Castilla y Leon (12.482 km²).

Traditional definition editar

The traditional definition of the Regió Metropolitana de Barcelona (RMB) is the municipalities of the comarques of Barcelonès, Baix Llobregat, Vallès Occidental, Vallès Oriental, Maresme, Garraf and Alt Penedès. This definition is the same as given by "El Pacte Industrial de la Regió Metropolitana de Barcelona".

I've never seen that the region is based on ATM's (not EMT) zonification.

Municipalities like Igualada, Vic or Manresa aren't considered part of the RMB.
