"One Sweet Day" fue nominada a los [[premios Grammy]] de 1996 en las categoría Grabación del Año y a la Mejor Colaboración Pop Vocal, aunque perdió en ambas categorías. Carey y Boyz II Men, siendo dos de los grandes nominados de los premios, fueron invitados a interpretar la canción en directo. Carey había sido nominada a seis premios Grammy aquella noche y los perdió todos. "One Sweet Day" era entonces número uno en la lista Billboard Hot 100 y a la mañana siguiente se anunció que había batido el récord que mantenía Whitney Houston, otorgando a Carey un "premio de consolación".
