<math>V_1VF = V + Vi</math>V*i
despejando
Sancando factor común <math>V</math>
<math>V_1VF = V (1+i)</math>
Ahora empleando esto para un segundo periodo
<math>V_2VF = V (1+i)+ V* (1+i)i</math>
<math>V_2VF = V (1+i)^2 </math>▼
Entonces sacamos factor común nuevamente <math>V (1+i)</math>
<math>V_2 = V (1+i)(1+i)</math>
▲<math>V_2 = V (1+i)^2</math>
Ahora empleando esto para un tercer periodo
<math>V_2VF = V (1+i)^2 * (1+i)</math>
<math>V_3VF = V (1+i)^3</math>
generalizando
<math>V_nVF = V (1+i)^n</math>
<math>V_n = V_F</math>
<math>V_F = V (1+i)^n</math>
<math>V_F</math>VF es valor final
<math>V</math> es valor inicial
<math>i</math> interes del periodo

<math> \ V_F = P_V \cdot (1+i)^n</math>
<math>V_F</math>VF: Valor Futuro.
<math>P_V</math>PV: Principal o Capital Inicial.
<math> \ P_VP_v = \frac{ V_FV_f} {( 1 + i)^n}</math>
Despejando <math> \ n </math>, se obtiene:
<math> \ n= \frac{log V_FV_f - log P_VP_v} { log (1 + i) } </math>
Despejando <math> \ i </math> se obtiene:
<math> i= \sqrt[n]{\frac{V_FV_f} {P_VP_v} }- 1 </math> ,
que también puede escribirse: <math> i= \left( {\frac{V_FV_f} {P_VP_v}}\right)^{\frac{1} { n}}- 1 </math>
