David Armitage Bannerman (1886 - 6 de abril de 1979) fue un ornitólogo inglés.^[1]

Biografía editar

Tras graduarse de la Universidad de Pembroke, en Cambridge, en 1909, Bannerman viajó por África, las Indias Orientales, Sudáfrica y las Islas Atlánticas.^[2]

Reclutado por los militares en el área de la medicina, Bannerman trabajó con la Cruz Roja durante cuatro años en Francia durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, lo que hizo que recibiera la Estrella de 1914. Luego trabajó como empleado de medio tiempo en el Museo de Historia Natural antes de retirarse en 1951 y haberse negado a dirigir el Museo Británico dos veces.^[2]^[2]^[3] Fue jefe del Club de los Ornitólogos Británicos desde 1932 a 1935, habiendo esitado su boletín de 1914 a 1915 y fue vicepresidente de la British Ornithologists' Union y la Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. También escribió para la revista Ibis.
