Many persons were present and heard Durrants final remarks.The almost unanimous opinion and impression was this: Durrantsspeech did not carry the weight of Truth, but had all the features ofa recitation. It was a mere statement, not a heartburst of eloquencefrom the dying lips of an innocent. It might be added that all the cemeteries of San Francisco refusedto accept Durrants body. The distracted parents turned from one tothe other, but all denied a place for burial and the crematories alsorefused to accept the body for incineration. Finally, on January 13th,1898, the crematory of Reynolds and Van Nuys at Passadena, over200 miles away from San Francisco, in Southern California, consentedto relieve the parents and amidst the clamorings of the sensationaljournalism of the day and the ogling of a morbidly curious crowd, thebody was conveyed to the southern part of the State and there reducedand returned, a small box of ashes.

MINNIE WILLIAMS.One of the murdered girls. .APPENDIX William Henry Theodore Durrant was executed for the murder ofBlanche Lamont yet he had been charged with the murder of MinnieWilliams. The body of Minnie Williams was the first discovered andled to the search of the church and the subsequent discovery of thatof Blanche Lamont. A brief resume of the evidence in possession ofthe law officers that would have been brought forward had there beena trial on the Minnie Williams charge, is here given. Minnie Flo^a Williams, sometimes called Marian Williams, wasthe eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Williams. Her father andmother being unable to live happily together on account of familydifferences, finally separated. The people of the Emanuel BaptistChurch took compassion on the mother and succeeded in collectingenough money to enable her and her younger children to return totheir former home in Bennville, Canada. When Mrs. Williams went away, Minnie, who preferred to makeher own living
