El arma se revisa quitando el cargador, tirando de la palanca de armado hacia atrás, e inspeccionando la recámara. Para cargar, el cargador es insertado dentro del hueco. Para preparar el arma para disparar, se alimenta tirando de la palanca de armado hacia atrás y soltándola, sin acompañar el regreso del mismo, asegurándose que el cierre de la cámara cierra correctamente. "Montar" la palanca de armado frecuentemente puede causar que el cierre no cierre perfectamente.
Cuando el cargador está agotado, el cierre queda bloqueado hacia atrás; reemplazando el cargador vacío por uno nuevo, y presionando el seguro del cierre, un nuevo cartucho entra en la recámara y el soldado puede comenzar a disparar inmediatamente.
