El siguiente paso para ECW (y así evitar la inminente quiebra debido a la falta de recursos) fue obtener un contrato con una televisión a nivel nacional, y lo consiguió con TNN, pero con la modalidad de la Attitude Era de la WWF los ratings se vieron afectados por lo cual Paul Heyman la declaró en quiebra en el 2001 y luego comprada por Vince Mcmahon.
