NORMAL SUPERIOR SCHOOL "MARÍA AUXILIADORA" - CÚCUTA

The María Auxiliadora Normal School is located in the heart of the city of Cúcuta, Norte de Santander department. The Escuela Normal Superior Maria Auxiliadora (ENSMA) is one of the 137 educational institutions called Escuela Normal Superior[1]​ - ENS - in Colombia, throughout the history of the teacher and his training, they have had a relevant role at the national and regional level as guarantors of preserving and strengthening a pedagogical culture through the preparation of teachers according to the needs of the country, at the preschool level and in the basic education cycle.[2]

La Normal begins its history as "Colegio Cúcuta" which was created by the Honorable Departmental Assembly according to Ordinance No. 4 of March 20, 1934, as an Academic Baccalaureate.

By the Decree of January 30, 1935, the Governor of the Department Luis Hernández Gutiérrez, and the Director of Public Education Dr. Felipe Ruan made the appointments of the directive personnel.

By Decrees Nos. 1829 and 71 of 1939 a director of practice was appointed.

A School Attached to the College is established for the students to put into practice the technical knowledge received in the classroom.

On February 1, 1953, it was nationalized using a written contract between Dr. Lucio Pabón Núñez and Dr. Oscar Vergel Pacheco; It was given the name of Normal Nacional María Auxiliadora.

In 1997, the company name changed according to Decree No. 001372 of October 10 to Escuela Normal Superior María Auxiliadora, upon receiving prior accreditation as Normal Superior. Since then, it has been moving towards quality accreditation.

In 2003, with resolution 075 of January of that year, it received quality and development accreditation.

As a result of Law 715, its company name is changed again, remaining with the name of Escuela Normal Superior María Auxiliadora.

INSTITUTIONAL ASPECTS [4]

The Escuela Normal Superior María Auxiliadora de Cúcuta is an Institution "training of trainers" that tends for a new teacher, intellectual of pedagogy, with community leadership, capable of self-management and scientific, pedagogical, and technological innovations; based on permanent research relevant to the environment where it interacts, being an agent of social transformation with a Salesian style.

It responds to the fundamental purpose of the Normal, "to be a Teacher Trainer (as), trainers of Childhood", for this it defines the characterization of its graduates considering the needs of education and society of the XXI century, from an international perspective in tune with the reflections of the UNESCO commission (2004) and its actions are aimed at meeting human and educational quality.

Similarly, the ENSMA in its Philosophy welcomes two areas of humanistic training. One is under the line of epidemiologists studying man in his different dimensions and the other is centered around the approaches of the preventive education of the daughters of Mary Help of Christians "Salesian". One is based on ethical principles and the other on the moral principles of the Christian religion.

In the complementary training program, in grades 12 and 13, students intensify their teacher training, through the development of communication, civic, pedagogical, and investigative skills, through a pedagogical interaction methodology where active learning begins so that the student finds his interiority and is aware of his assimilation of information to turn them into knowledge, abilities, skills, attitudes, behaviors, training.

TRAINING FOUNDATION

All this leads ENSMA to fulfill its goal, which consists of training new teachers, educational professionals, intellectuals of pedagogy, committed to the honest exercise of citizenship, from the new tendencies of education and principles of Salesian Philosophy. This goal coincides with the goal of Salesian education because our educational process is inspired by the philosophy of Don Bosco's preventive system. This system has as its principles reason, religion, and love, which are equally fundamental to institutional values[5]​. Establishing as central places of formation the patio, the chapel and the meeting room. The ENSMA is characterized by an educational environment prioritized in the motto of "Good Christians and honest citizens".

EVENTS

In the research development with a social sense, the ENSMA has been promoting different events that promote the training of teachers about pedagogical research and rural education. The update forum is highlighted in November of each year.

For the year 2021, the thirteenth version called "Resignification of the school, challenges and resilience" was held, with the participation of international and national speakers, through the presentation of significant experiences and a tribute to Paulo Freire

, a Latin American educator who has inspired by a social and critical education, highlighting its recognized pedagogical message: "I fight for an education that teaches us to think and not for an education that teaches us to obey" (Freire -Centenary of his birth-)
