Sandra Patricia Sánchez Gordón es una investigadora ecuatoriana reconocida en el campo de la informática y la ciencia de la computación, con una destacada trayectoria tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Actualmente, se desempeña como docente principal a tiempo completo en el Departamento de Informática y Ciencias de la Computación (DICC) de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional de Ecuador, donde ha impartido clases desde 1994.[1]​

Trayectoria

Obtuvo su doctorado en Aplicaciones Informáticas de la Universidad de Alicante, España, y completó un máster en Ingeniería de Software en la Universidad Drexel de Estados Unidos. Además, cuenta con certificaciones en ISTQB Agile Testing y Scrum Master.

Es reconocida como Investigadora Acreditada por la Secretaría de Educación Superior, Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (SENESCYT) de Ecuador desde agosto de 2018, con una amplia experiencia en investigación en áreas como e-Learning, Accesibilidad Web, Interacción Humano-Computador, Telemedicina, MOOCs, calidad de software, ingeniería de pruebas de software, entre otros.

Como representante de Ecuador ante el Comité de Calificaciones de Pruebas de Software Región Hispanoamérica HASTQB, ha contribuido al avance y reconocimiento de estándares de calidad en el campo de la informática.[2]​

Filosofía

Su filosofía se centra en promover la diversidad y la inclusión en las carreras STEM, reconociendo el papel fundamental que juegan las mujeres en el progreso científico y tecnológico.

Las disparidades, las desigualdades, no ocurren por casualidad. Demasiadas niñas se ven frenadas por su falta de confianza en sí mismas, discriminación, prejuicios, normas sociales y expectativas que influyen en la calidad de la educación que reciben, las materias que estudian y las carreras que eligen. La diversidad ayuda al progreso científico. Equipos de pensadores diversos son mejores en la resolución de problemas. Hay que promover una mayor y mejor inserción del talento de las mujeres en carreras STEM.

Contribuciones y Proyectos

Ha sido miembro activo de numerosos comités de programa y científicos en conferencias internacionales y regionales, lo que refleja su compromiso con el avance del conocimiento en su campo. Ha participado en la organización de eventos como la International Conference on Computer Science, Electronics and Industrial Engineering (CSEI) y la International Conference on Advances in Human-oriented and Personalized Mechanisms, Technologies, and Services (CENTRIC), entre otros.

Además, ha liderado varios proyectos de investigación, como el desarrollo de modelos para la implementación de MOOCs accesibles, la mejora de la calidad del proceso de implementación de productos de software y el diseño de sistemas de tele-rehabilitación para pacientes post-operatorios, entre otros.[3]​

  • Agentes de adquisición, procesamiento y respuesta de un sistema emergente para gestión de accidentabilidad en vehículos basado en técnicas de inteligencia artificial. Periodo de participación  21 de junio de 2021 - 20 de marzo de 2023. Código del proyecto PIS-20-02.
  • Desarrollo de modelos de predicción del nivel de riesgo de accidentes de tráfico usando técnicasde inteligencia artificial y machine learning y su aplicación en un sistema seguro de alertas através de dispositivos móviles. Su destacada trayectoria ha sido ampliamente reconocida por su contribución excepcional en diversos ámbitos, evidenciando su compromiso y excelencia en la ciencia y la tecnología. Algunos de los reconocimientos recibidos incluyen:
