English: The hummingbird photo was taken in the Caribbean Islands of Nevis and St Kitts, of what is believed to be a male Antillean Crested Hummingbird Orthorhyncus cristatus. After a huge and dramatic storm, the hummingbird got really wet, and I was given this precious opportunity to take this photo, while the bird was drying off his feathers. The hummingbird was protecting his territory, and very often engaged in ferocious fights with his opponents. The hummingbird’s fights developed in the following way: The birds, in frontal flight, collided against each other, and began, in the air, to hit each other with their wings ((shaped (and as hard as) helicopter paddles)), while at the same time, the hummingbirds sting each other with their respective sharp beaks. This battle lasted a few seconds, and then the hummingbirds separated, from each other, by flying away. I followed the behavior of this particular hummingbird for a month. A female hummingbird lived on the property, nesting with two or three eggs.
