La temporada 2022 del Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes fue la 35.ª edición del Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes desde que este iniciara en 1988.

El campeón defensor es el turco Toprak Razgatlıoğlu quien obtuvo el título al terminar en la segunda posición en la primera carrera celebrada en Indonesia. En el apartado de constructores, Yamaha es el campeón defensor y en el apartado de equipos, el Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK intentara retener su corona obtenida gracias a los puntos sumados por Razgatlıoğlu y Andrea Locatelli.

Tras dos temporadas en el Aruba.it Racing – Ducati, Scott Redding dejó el equipo para fichar por el BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team ocupando el lugar de Tom Sykes.
Tras dos temporadas en el Team HRC, Álvaro Bautista dejó el equipo para fichar por el Aruba.it Racing – Ducati. Bautista pilotó para el Aruba.it Racing – Ducati en la temporada 2019.
El alemán Philipp Öttl da el salto al Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes de la mano del Team GoEleven.
El sanmarinense Luca Bernardi da el salto al Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes de la mano del Barni Racing Team.
Loris Baz regresa al Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes de la mano del Bonovo action BMW Racing Team.
Después de solo una temporada en el RC Squadra Corse, Eugene Laverty dejó el equipo para fichar por el Bonovo action BMW Racing Team.
Tarran Mackenzie, campeón británico de Superbikes de 2021, participara en tres carreras como wildcard en Donington Park, Assen, y un tercer circuito por confirmar, montando una Yamaha YZF-R1 de fábrica.
Los españoles Iker Lecuona y Xavi Vierge harán su debut en el Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes de la mano del Team HRC.
El italiano Roberto Tamburini hará su debut en el Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes de la mano del Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team.
El malayo Hafizh Syahrin hará su debut en el Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes de la mano del MIE Racing Honda Team. Syahrin será el primer malayo en disputar una temporada completa del Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes.
